The block is beautiful, moist, and delicious. The cream cheese frosting is used only for piping (perhaps with a star tip) around the meridian of the cake, outlining a pool for the whipped cream. My proposition is to halve the recipe for foam cheese frosting if you lot don't desire lots of leftover frosting. Information technology's a cute cake and if you're traveling with it, easy to take the plain layers with y'all, and so add the berries and the whipped foam and assemble information technology when you arrive. Frosting comes in decorator tubes now so you could buy that, adhere a decorator tip, and then make the well for the whipped cream. Voila', easy and impressive block!

I fabricated this cake for some people I work with and it was a large hit. But instead of making it totally from scratch I used a yellow cake mix and substuited buttermilk for the milk and butter flavored crisco for the butter. I also used just 1/2 cup of sugar. I also used a dash of almond extract in the cream and frosting. and used sixteen ounces of cream cheese in the frosting with only a nuance of buttermilk to lossen it up for pipeing. The cake was awesome.

I baked this for my dad's birthday last weekend, and it was very good! I thing to note, the cake itself is pinkish, which was sort of funny at the birthday. The cake would exist perfect for Female parent'due south Day or a fiddling girl's birthday. Information technology'due south bright and very sweet. This was better than your average strawberry shortcake. The cake office was very moist and dumbo. Although the cream cheese frosting on the sides was yummy, information technology was a fiddling hard to ice with the whipped cream oozing out from between the layers. If y'all are short on time or want to cutting the richness of the cake, you can easily skip on the frosting. I also should have listened to my instincts and used nonstick cooking spray instead of greasing and flouring the pans per the recipe. The cake layers stuck and I had to slice them dorsum together. For anyone who hasn't tried it, I've never had a block stick when using Pam or Mazola.

This cake was one of three that I took to a church dessert buffet. I didn't get to gustatory modality information technology until it was almost gone, however, when I did I felt embarassed to think information technology came from my house. I did non see the rubbery texture everyone was talking about. Nor did I detect this too sweet. I was a fiddling reluctant to make this cake because of some of the reviews, just this was a fantastic cake. I should take only used 2 pans instead of iii because each layer came out about a half inch thick. I would take given this recipe five stars, only I constitute the whole block to very slidey. Two layers definitely would take cutting down on the sliding. The taste was bully!!! My husband loved information technology. It is very elementary to make and get together. The red strawberries can be formed into a maple leaf over the white icing to exist even more than aesthetically pleasing! This is a wonderful summertime-time cake for in season strawberries! I volition make it over again for sure!

This was amazing block! I fabricated 1 with the cream cheese icing, which was a little two sweet for us, but it was still great. The next 1 I fabricated with just whipped cream instead of the icing and it was awesome! Peachy recipe thank you for sharing!

This cake took alot longer to make than I expected - i.east. practically all 24-hour interval! The pink strawberry block mix was VERY moist and filled only 2 nine-inch block pans. To make it 3 layers, I made the centre layer from a store-bought chocolate cake mix. I decorated that height with sliced strawberries and chocolate shavings (see photos of this recipe). I remember that a filling other than whipped foam would work better - the whipped foam seems as well lite and is somewhat absorbed by the cake - a stickier vanilla icing might be better. All the problem was worth it - it got rave reviews at a family birthday political party!

Ive made this cake before and it came out fine.. merely this time around information technology stuck to the pan.. my 1st try I put pam and flour.. it stuck bad to the pans.. and so my 2nd effort I put aluminum foil on the pans nonetheless a sticky mess.. uugghhh.. but the taste was delishious..

Super yummy! Okay so like another review said you need the strawberries to tame downwardly the sugariness of the cake and the whipped cream helps likewise. I am using the recipe to brand a princess castle for my daughter'due south birthday so I fabricated information technology in deeper pans so it took quite a scrap longer to bake, almost an hour for the deepest i (about 4 inches deep). The sides got a trivial dark-brown simply after tasting the "chocolate-brown" parts it doesn't taste at all burnt so don't worry if the sides plow brownish. I did cover the tops of the pans with foil for most the time though so the tops wouldn't burn down. Dearest this recipe! Thank you again!

This block was dense, chewy, rubbery and patently gross. The cream cheese frosting did not go well with the whip cream filling and the batter did not brand 3 cakes, it only fabricated ii. I am an gorging baker and I can't believe all the great reviews this cake got! GROSS!

This block was incredible! Everything turned out perfectly. It was a little time consuming because everything, including the whip cream and icing are made from scratch simply it'southward non all the hard and definitely worth the attempt.

Very good. I did non have any bug with the wipped foam beingness absorbed. I used heavy whipping cream and very well cooled cakes. I did need more sugar in the whipping cream, though. Make sure you taste test it for sweet.

This was meridian notch! It only fabricated two layers for me (as information technology did with other reviewers). I used one cup of carbohydrate instead of 2. Next time I will change this to 1 ane/4 loving cup sugar and 1 cup of puréed strawberries in the concoction. I would prefer more of the fresh strawberry flavour mixed in. I did not make the whipped cream as I didn't desire to hassle with information technology melting and dripping between the layer. I used cream cheese frosting (a dissimilar recipe that I prefer) between layer and around/on top of the cake. It was a existent hit. A very very dumbo cake, almost like a pound block. Information technology was non at all dry like others complained of.

This block tasted pretty skillful and strawberry-y, but there was a texture issue, and it didn't rise much. The texture was way too moist, so it was difficult to cutting. It stuck to the plate I put information technology on to absurd and the layers croaky, and a chunk of one came out. I probably won't brand this recipe again in cake form, merely I'll endeavor them every bit cupcakes. ~Bae

I made a niggling actress whipping cream and omitted the cream cheese frosting. The sweetness of the cake and mildness of the foam complimented each other perfectly. I will make this again, addding a lot more thinly strawberries in between the layers.

The caske was delicious, but I am not a great baker so the presentation was HORRIBLE. My cake did non bake in the heart so the center caved in. I wouldn't try this receipe again.

Good, just not quite what I was expecting. I wanted more of a natural strawberry flavor to these. The Jell-O, though providing a gorgeous colour, gave it a slightly artificial gustation. I did cutting the sugar to 1.v cups, could probably go a little less still. Frosted entire cake - not only sides - with the CC Frosting (nonetheless had a bunch left, definitely cut that in half!). And, only fabricated it a two-layer cake. Pack your layers with berries. I didn't and really wish I did.

Excellent recipe. Extremely piece of cake to brand and beautiful presentation. I fabricated this block for a friend's birthday and she thought I bought it. Information technology tasted wonderful, likewise. (I used Absurd Whip instead of the whipped cream, 'cos I over beat out the foam and didn't accept time to become more. :))

Not something I would do every day, and I'm definitely non a cake maker.. lol. But loved the flavors. What I would exercise side by side time though, in one case I realized that I was basically making cool whip for in between the layers, would get the cool whip to use, rather then make it.

The presentation was beautiful and the birthday girl (my aunt) absolutely loved it. I did discover that the cake absorbed a lot of the whip cream filling so information technology is best to assemble the cake right earlier serving. Will make again!

I baked the layers 30 minutes and they came out perfect. The block was very moist and light tasting. I skipped the cream cheese icing and used more whipped cream. Beautiful and delicious.

This was delicious! I made information technology for my husband'south birthday and he said it was the best cake e'er. He had wanted Strawberry Shortcake, only I idea that was too elementary. He had 2 huge pieces and he honestly rarely eats sweets. He used to honey Gilded Rum Cake from this site, merely I am afraid Strawberries and Cream Block topped that one...although both are fantastic! Thanks for the recipe!

This recipe has been a favorite for quite some time. It was in one of the many recipe books from the grocery shop checkout. It was called Blue Ribbon Recipes/Cakes. The first time I tried it, it was a hit and now people beg for it. Information technology's a Swell Cake . Very elegant.

I similar the concept of this cake, however, the cake itself was not that great. If I was voting just for the block recipe, I'd requite it a 3, perhaps. Information technology tasted floury and had an odd artificial strawberry taste. I loved the foam filling and the cream cheese frosting though, that kind of saved it.

In presentation I would rate this 5 stars but in taste, I was not impressed. I institute the texture and taste dense and artificial in taste. If I were to broil this again, I would add double strawberry puree in the cake. This was a lot of fuss to create though it was appreciated by the children and their parents for the occasion- Birthday cake. I am saddened by the outcome but volition endeavor it once more and tweek it to my liking.

I made this for my daughter's Birthday and the family actually enjoyed it. A lot of reviews said the frosting was besides sweet and then I used a whipped cream cheese frosting recipe from this site to frost the entire cake. It chosen for much less sugar. I would make this again. A expert summer block.

This cake looked very nice when it was finished, though the gustation was but all right. The favor seemed to exist more with the cream cheese icing and whipped cream. The block itself was a nice pink colour, but the jello did requite a fleck of a "fake" taste, and a slightly fake palatableness. I fabricated information technology for my beau and he liked it a lot. If I fabricated this again, I would cut the saccharide downwards to about 1.5 cups because this was too sweetness. Too, I would look for all natural jello or try pudding instead. Expert and fun to make, only not nifty or splendid.

It's a lot of fuss, but well worth it. For reviewers who mentioned the aftertaste, it is the baking powder you are using - endeavour Rumford. I've fabricated it twice and the baking powder makes the difference.

What a great combo! I didn't have time to make the block portion, and then I used a boxed strawberry & white block. Since people commented that it was besides sweet, I used the cream cheese frosting as the filling with strawberries, used a light skim glaze on the sides to fill whatsoever gaps, and used the whipped foam to frost the outside. Decorating the top with strawberries and shaved chocolate! What a hit!!! Thank You lot!!

Another block that I republic of guinea pigged people at work with. It was a huge hit and the biggest compliment is coming home with an empty cake plate. The only thing I can say was that the frosting was very sweet. Someone even thought it was store bought :( So, I think side by side fourth dimension I'm going to add together less powdered carbohydrate. Other than that, 4 stars!!

Delicious. I similar the texture of this strawberry cake verses the other strawberry block from scratch recipe hither. Information technology was spongey and easy to work with (as opposed to sticky and soft). The block itself was a little banal for me (even though there is tons of carbohydrate in information technology), but expert cream cheese frosting fabricated up for that. In addition to a 9X13 cake, I made cupcakes using all purpose flour and they were simply as proficient. I did not a difference in taste or texture.

This was a wonderful block, although I wasn't sure what to do with the foam cheese frosting; it didn't seem to work for me. I had to add together some milk, and I was left with a LOT of frosting! This was a delightful cake, though, and I will definitely go far again!

I made this for my Church (I will postal service pics).. It came out beautiful! I didn't taste it, but people loved it at that place, and information technology gives a elementary but beautiful presentation. I was worried about some of the reviews of it being rubbery and someone said that it made small layers. I sifted my flour and blistering powder together, and like suggested, I halved the cream cheese icing just to decorate a bit and it was still too much. Other than that, I followed the recipe exactly. Deliciious!! Will make again, but may use more strawberries in the cake & between the layers. I didn't employ the cream cheese frosting as others suggested because it really isn't needed. I'd similar to try with raspberries also. May endeavor using a bundt pan: cut in one-half, scoop out center & add whipped cream & berries for filling.

This was arguably the all-time cake I ever made, and I have made many. Since I had enough cream cheese frosting to frost the whole cake, I used that on the top insitead of the whipped cream. A terrific cake, and a swell hit with the friend for whom I made information technology, and with the other ladies who shared it with us. I volition definitely make this again, especially whenever strawberries are in season (now). Thanks for a swell recipe!!

Made this cake for my parents' 50th wedding ceremony. What a fabulous block! It was easy to brand and succulent. The icing was a picayune sloppy - hard to piping for ornament. Other than that, I give it a thumbs up! Everyone loved information technology!

This cake was pretty skilful. A very pretty color. When I saw no salt on the list of ingredients, I assumed that something in the gelatin took care of that. But after tasting the block, I think it would benefit from a picayune added salt.

One of the best summer cakes I have ever made! Information technology's very moist and pretty! My family unit loved information technology. I did spread the cream cheese frosting over the entire top of the cake and so dolloped the remaining whipped cream in the eye. I didn't have plenty of the whipped cream left to embrace the top.

This is really a good block. Everyone at my relationship bible study loved information technology. I do suggest that you leave out the heavy cream, and but use strawberry cool whip, and add strawberries.

This cake was amazing, not as well sweet at all. Afterward reading the reviews, the simply change I made was to pipe the cream cheese icing around the layers and so I could pack in the whipped cream! Will definitely get a page in the recipe volume

I talked my friend into making this block for her daughters birthday party, and information technology came out embarrassingly bad. It looked cute and a lot of effort was put into making it, just information technology had a really strange taste and texture. The kids ate it.

Okay, can yous say "PARCHMENT Newspaper." Please use it or you may end upwards with a trifle instead of a cake like me! I used non-stick pans, and greased them. None of them came out. Well, all at in one case that is! I was making this for my neighbour and it looked pathetic. I ended upwards making a trifle out of it. The components were simple and expert, only "maker beware." :(

the strawberry cake was fairly dense just moist...i cutting down the carbohydrate to 1 ane/2c, only used one-half the gelatin and increased the corporeality of pureed strawberries...also, instead of making the cream cheese icing, i matched the cake with a chocolate mousse frosting....it turned out swell and nosotros really enjoyed it :)

I brought this to work. Everyone thought information technology was wonderful. I followed the recipe equally is. I would pipe the cream cheese frosting on each layer of cake so that the filling stays betwixt the layers.

I made this cake for a family unit gathering. And even though I haven't cooked many cakes, this one got rave reviews. I made a few variations. Instead of making the cake from scratch, I used strawberry cake mix; also instead making the icing according to the recipe, I substituted cream cheese and strawberry icing. Delicious!! I made this cake for our Memorial Day political party and it was a HIT! Very appealing visually and very tasty. I merely wish I had made ii. Like shooting fish in a barrel to make. I made this for a co-worker'due south birthday and it got rave reviews - I didn't even become to taste it because it was gone so fast! The layers were very moist and dense, and easy to work with. I used purchased whipped topping and frosting (the whipped diversity) to save time and effort, and was very pleased with the results. I plan to make this again soon!

This was a very delicious cake. I made information technology for my dad's birthday political party and it was a hit. The merely affair is the cake was a little dry. For the frosting, I pureed the strawberries and added them into the frosting mix. Too, I only used 2 layers of cake instead of 3 and it was easier to frost and put strawberries in the middle.

The last reviewer advised against putting this block in the fridge, and when I got to read that, the cake I made was late already chilling for a couple of hours in i. The cake itself is delicous and fragrant, but it is a bit dense, and so I volition make this again and not chill information technology next fourth dimension and run into if there is a difference in texture. Did non frost nor fill it, topped each layer with a strawberry coat before stacking them. Thank you for posting.

This is 1 of the best cakes I take e'er made! We admittedly loved it! Those who say it turned out chewy did something incorrect - it was very moist and delicious. Saying it doesn't crave a lot of fuss is a stretch though - it took a long time to make this. On blow I used all the filling for the first 2 layers and did non have whatever left to put on height. That worked out fine because there was enough frosting to frost the entire cake. I'll probably make it the same way adjacent time. Well worth the amount of work it takes to make!

did I exercise something wrong? I thought the block was horrible...not much of a sense of taste just in that location was an aftertaste. The cream cheese frosting was great and the parts of the block frosted with it tasted yummy, the whipped cream was also good. Sorry, I wont be making this one again

PERFECT KIDS CAKE! I made a few alterations to this cake and used a vanilla butter cream frosting instead of cream cheese and so I added a layer of marshmallow fondant. I made it one day in advance (kept in a refrigerator of grade) and it was so perfectly moist and sweet for the party and a big hit with child that usually forgo the cake.

The cake was pretty easy to brand and was beautiful when finished. The sense of taste equally others noted was a bit artificial because of the jello. Yous can cut dorsum on the amount of jello. I did when I fabricated it a second fourth dimension.

Ok. I had quite the incident with this cake. Previous to making this cake I made a credibility cheese block and role of the brownie mix had dripped in my oven and without thinking I put this block in and it came out tasting terribly burnt but the bite my married man tried he did mention it tasted extremely chewy. I had read the reviews from others most information technology tasting rubbery simply I idea that perhaps they had used all purpose flour instead of cake flour (but apparently that wasn't the case). Anyway, I was just going to do abroad with this cake considering I had enough dessert planned for my political party but existence as nuts every bit me I couldn't sleep thinking about it haha. Then I concluded up using a yellowish cake mix and prepared information technology as instructed on the box so added the strawberry gelatin and the pureed strawberries. The cake was FABULOUS! The frosting was neat besides. I will definitely brand this cake again!

Okay then I am not completely sure what the person below me was talking about with the foam cheese frosting only beingness for piping, simply the cream cheese frosting is used to frost the entire cake except the superlative and also for decorations if you desire piping on your cake. But other than that, this cake is absolutly succulent and i have fabricated it quite a few times and a strawberry boxed block mix with the pureed strawberries tastes exactly the same! Happy Baking!

i didn't utilise the pureed strawberries and the cream cheese icing but it still came out bully! i used the extra whipped cream for the icing. my niece loves information technology so much she has two slices per serving!
